Varian Designs, by artisan Forest Dickey, combine traditional architectural forms, materials, and methods with innovative design to create one-of-a-kind furniture. Each piece has its own character and link to the past, illuminated through its distinctive markings. One hundred-year-old nail holes, insect damage, and former structural joints are preserved and even accentuated, illustrating the individual history of the material while not compromising their simple functionality.
Our tables, benches, and chairs are handmade, with an attention to detail that cannot be equaled by mass-produced goods. The wood’s origin, natural aging, and distinctive markings combine to provide the furniture with a singular beauty.
Our artist primarily uses environmentally responsible materials. As these materials are rare and distinctive, grain patterns and natural patinas vary from board to board and beam to beam. Small details of the finished products will vary from those shown on this site.
